I recently installed the tentacle service on a couple new machines but they are showing as offline to Octopus. The tentacle service starts fine and is running under an account with local admin and logon as a service rights. I’m able to hit the tentacle web service page on the machines from the octopus server and am able to telnet to them using the port I’ve configured. I’ve tried reinstalling the tentacle, recreating the machine in Octopus, and rebooting the tentacle machine but none of these things has helped. There are no errors in the windows event viewer. I’m not sure what else to try next. Do you have any troubleshooting suggestions?
Ok, I found the problem. I missed checking the tentacle logs on the machine - I was expecting any errors to be recorded in the windows application log. It appears the time was off on these two new servers by more than 5 minutes and it was causing a MessageSecurityException.
