Hy, during adjustment of the IIS Physical Path for a Website the Tentacle stops/freezes execution and blocks further interaction.
This only occurs on Server 2012 R2 with around every fourth rollout.
For now we could only bypass this issue by restarting the whole server.
Thanks for getting in touch! I’m terribly sorry you’re hitting this strange issue. Would you be willing to provide a PowerShell dump when it freezes, and task logs from a deployment where this has occurred? This should provide more context to help troubleshoot what could be going on.
I look forward to hearing back and getting to the bottom of this one!
Hy Kenny,
thanks for hearing me out
I recently installed an update of Octopus Deploy and now the occurrences seem to be gone.
In addition I disabled some steps, maybe this is some kind of timing problem -> I am running multiple projects in parallel and it sometimes happened that one step was waiting for execution because of another one running in a different project.
As soon as I catch a freezed rollout, I will create a dump of it.
You’re quite welcome! That’s great to hear the update seems to have helped. Thanks for letting us know, and we’d be interested in digging into it if it occurs again.
