We have a datacentre licence and an HA configuration for our Octopus instance. I want to install external workers and was wondering how I might do this on Server 2016 Core. I understand the tentacle installer must be installed on the worker node, but I need the commandline parameters etc to be able to get the tentacle installed without a UI.
Alternatively, do you have a Containerized version of the workers or some other PAAS solution?
Any thoughts or am I going to have to use server 2016 (non-core)
Thanks for getting in touch! You can install Tentacle on Server 2016 Core via the command line, and we have great documentation on automating Tentacle installation at the following link.
You can also find more information on our Docker containers for both Octopus Server and Tentacle in the following doc section which I think will help.
If you have any questions moving forward, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
I am aware of the automation to install tentacles. My question was what variables do I put into this automation as I am not installing a tentacle for a machine that is going into an environment with a role name. I wanted to know the variables that I am supposed to enter when I am assigning a machine to be a worker.
