Hi,

Hi,
Thanks for getting in touch! You can attach files in a release using artifacts. This provides a way to collect your files from remote machines and copy them to your Octopus server. Artifacts can be collected from anywhere that Octopus runs scripts, such as the script console or a script step in your deployment process. Additionally, you can collect them using any of Octopus’ supported scripting languages (C#, F#, Bash, and PowerShell). Check out our artifacts documentation page that includes examples using each of these languages.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.
Best regards,
Kenny
Hi ,
I think the purpose of artifacts is different. This is more like collecting something from tentacle servers. My scenario is to upload Testing approval or business approval mails as attachment while deploying the release from Octopus dashboard. We have people who do not have server access and they just open the dashboard and trigger the deployment. Asking them to copy the file in a server and then using a script to attach those mails in release artifacts does not make much sense. Please let me know your thoughts.
Hi,
Thanks for following up and clarifying your scenario. While there’s no other built-in way to attach emails to your releases, you can add information to your release notes. When you create your releases, you could add the details of the approval. Or if you have your emails stored somewhere that you can link to, add that link to the release notes.
Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions!
Best regards,
Kenny
Thanks Kenny. Could it be considered something which can be added in future versions? It will be really helpful.
Hi,
I appreciate you sharing what you’d like to see in future versions of Octopus. We use UserVoice for feature requests, and there’s a current suggestion to implement a feature to add email attachments. This can be found at the following link. Feel free to add a vote and a comment to it.
Feel free to get in touch anytime if you have any questions
Best regards,
Kenny
