many thanks for your response. I did try the reset but to no avail. As we were upgrading from 1.0.31.1366 to 1.6.2.1722, it occurred to me that the data migrations may not cater for this jump so I decided to upgrade to 1.2.x then 1.3.x then jump to the latest and this approach, whilst slower, worked.
