One tentacle can be added in multiple environments with a unique names as long as you know the port number, server name and the access to add deployment target . This seems like a security with in the enterprise as people with appropriate permissions may accidentally add same servers with different names. Is there any way to prevent this without taking off the permission to add/edit machines?
There is currently no way to prevent this, although we do write any changes like this to the audit log. One work-around is to consider using polling tentacles on environments you want to be more restricted, as generally you need access to the target machine to add a polling tentacle.
