Octopus Deploy Portal inaccurately reporting the actual Tentactle version installed

Hi guys

After updating to 1.6.0.1714 from 1.5.1.1652, I went to update all the Tentacles from the Portal. They all displayed successful upgrades, however, when I logged on to the Tentacle’s server and checked the version in the Tentacle Admin Tool, it was showing 1.5.1.1652 still. I manually downloaded and installed the latest Tentacle file, after which the tool showed 1.6.0.1714 is installed.

Strangely, whenever I clicked ‘Check Health’ in the Portal, it kept showing 1.6.0.1714 was installed, even when 1.5.1.1652 was the version actually installed on the server…

Hi,

Yes, during upgrades we upgrade the Tentacle windows service, but we don’t currently upgrade the tools, so the tool will still show the old version. Installing the new MSI as you have found solves the problem.
