Octo.exe from 4.0.4 clients download does not export anything. Running 3.5.2 server on Windows 2012 R2. If I roll back to Octo.exe 3.5.4 then export works.
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I was able to reproduce the error and have also got a fix ready to go out, hopefully sometime later today. It appears that the changes that we needed to add to support .net core, resulted an async HTTP request not waiting correctly meaning that the command it exited prematurely.
I have created GitHub Ticket #97 so that you can se what the problem was, as well as the fix.
As stated above we hope to have a fix out very soon. In the meantime, you may be interested to know that we have added support to
Octopus.Migrator.exe (which comes bundled with your Octopus Server installation) for partial exports. The partial export takes as an argument a project name and exports all related documents. This export can then be imported into a clean Server installation resulting in the project being ready to deploy with minimal additional work. Going forward we expect the migrator to become the standard tool used for import/export so please let us know if it fails to meet your needs.
Thanks again for letting letting us know about this issue.
Just a quick update the the updated octo.exe is now out already.
You can grab version 4.0.7 from the downloads page.
I hope this helps get your deployments back on track.
