How to create a release using existing release

Hi,

I am trying to create a release by using a existing release for application. However i am not able to get the package information and add details to Octo.exe. Can i someone help to create a release by using existing release of application.

Thank you,
Sridhar

Hi Sridhar,

Thanks for getting in touch,

Based on the information provided in your query, I’m not sure I quite understand you’re intention here as it almost sounds like you’re wanting to clone an existing release? If this is indeed the case, I’m unsure as to why you wouldn’t want to simply re-deploy this release?

If you have updated variables between versions you can either;

  1. Simply create a new Release

or

  1. You can update the variables within the release snapshot by select Update Variables in the existing release and then re-deploy it, (Please note, however, that you will lose the record of the original variables in doing so)

If you’re able to outline your goals and requirements here, I’d be more than happy to assist further :slight_smile:

Kind Regards,

Reece

Hi Sridhar,

Thanks for getting back to me,

Since you’re attempting to create a new release using the Octo.exe command line, I’ve included a link to our documentation on this below;

I’d recommend having a read through this information as it provides some basic examples on the usage of the parameters as well as outlining the available options.

I hope this helps!

If you require any further assistance or clarification, please let me know :slight_smile:

Kind Regards,

Reece
