I just upgraded to 3.x and want to start leveraging the reporting template. It seems I can download Octopus Report.xlsx fine, but when I open it in Excel 2013 I get an error saying the file is corrupt and couldn’t be opened. I understand that the file reads in data from demo.octopusdeploy.com and I noticed something off with that site. I see your using a wild card certificate, *.octopusdeploy.com, which seems to have expired on 12/26/2015. I know that’s the two issues, but I was thinking perhaps that’s why I could not open the Excel file.
Hi Pat,
Thanks for getting in touch, and I’m sorry this wasn’t a smooth process for you. I’m chasing down the replacement SSL certificate now and will let you know once the site is back up and running so we can eliminate that root cause.
What an awkward expiry date! Boxing Day…
Hope that helps!
Mike
Hi Pat,
I’ve fixed the issues with the SSL certificates and the Excel report seems to be working again. Please let me know if you have any further problems.
Hope that helps!
Mike
Michael, I don’t think the ssl cert was the root cause. I tested again and it still didn’t work. I realized I didn’t unblock the xlsx file after downloading, I unblocked it, and then I was successfully able to open the file. Note, I was thrown off with the blocked file because I could see it in file explorer in the preview window. Just a heads up to anyone else who runs into this issue, “The file is corrupt and cannot be opened”. Thanks for you help!
Hi Pat,
Thanks for getting back to me. I’m glad you got it working! I’ve added this to the documentation page.
Happy Deployments!
Mike
